Top Tips for a Show Stopping Platter with Platter Co.

Published on 01 December 2017

Whether it’s a centre piece at the Christmas table, a partner to some bubbly at New Year, or a quick way to feed short-notice guests, having the perfect platter in the repertoire is a must in the silly season.

We asked Jade from Platter Co for her tips to mastering the grazing plate.

1.Variety is key

If cheese is the base of your platter, include different textures. One soft, one aged or hard, and one blue is a good place to start.

2.Be bold

Don’t be afraid of using different angles and shapes when styling, it will only add visual appeal…and increase appetite!

3.Go for the buddy system

Make sure every cheese has a partner. Fresh and dried fruit, salted nuts and fruit pastes all enhance the flavour of cheeses.

4.Let it all hang out

Nothing looks more appealing than abundance. Let fruit and nuts spill over the edges of your platter onto the table for a generous, rustic look.

5.Eat the rainbow

Or at least, add it to your platter. Fresh herbs and bright coloured fruits will brighten things up and make mouths water.

When all else fails, Jade can craft a beautiful – and delicious – platter for your special occasion. See her work her magic in our new video.
