Bliss Balls with Gourmet Kids

Published on 17 January 2018

These school holidays we're hosting a range of wellness activities to keep kids feeling good inside and out. We're excited to have the team from Gourmet Kids at our Happy Campers Wellness Hub where they'll be hosting Healthy Bites workshops. On Saturdays and Sundays in the school holidays, budding chefs can learn how to make Bliss Balls, and with less than 5 ingredients, it's the healthy snack you can easily make at home.

Book into the workshop then view the recipes below to recreate these healthy snacks at home.

Banana Oat Balls

Makes 6

  • 1/4 banana
  •  ¼ cup shredded coconut
  • 1 tblsp honey
  • 1 tsp raisins (optional)
  • ½ cup quick oats
  • 1 tsp choc chips (optional)
  • Additional shredded coconut to roll balls into

In a mixing bowl with a fork mash the banana till there are no lumps. Add the honey and mix together

Add the shredded coconut oats and optional ingredients. Mix well. The mixture should be wet enough to be able to roll into balls without falling apart, and not too wet that it sticks to your hand (wet your hands to help stop the mixture sticking to your hands)

Roll mixture into six balls and roll into extra coconut

  • 1 tsp raisins (optional)
  • 1 tsp choc chips (optional)
  • Additional shredded coconut to roll balls into

Pre soak the dates over night so they are soft and easy to mash in a mixing bowl with a fork. Add the vanilla essence and then cocoa powder and mix together.

Add the shredded coconut, oats and optional ingredients. Mix well. The mixture should be wet enough to be able to roll into balls without falling apart, and not too wet that it sticks to your hand (wet your hands to help stop the mixture sticking to your hands)

Recipe Notes

  • You might like to consider making these balls with sunflower seeds or pepita (pumpkin seeds)
  • Store in a closed container the fridge - they will firm up over time and they should keep for approx 1-2 weeks
